As my blog name, The Unseasoned Bakers suggests, I am new to baking. New, inexperienced and far from being a sophisticated baker. I have always liked baking but having a mum who cooks instead of bakes and myself never being that good or dedicated to baking, meant that growing up it didn't happen very often.

So I must admit, I am a love child of Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Yes, The Great British Bake Off has spurred me on and I have thoroughly jumped on that band wagon - much like the rest of the country. In the last year I have bought numerous baking books, watched hundreds of cooking shows plus the last two years of TGBBO and thought 'I can do this!'

However, I am not on this journey alone. My mum will be my fellow baker! My mum is first and foremost a cook and will always be a cook (and her food is bloomin' good!). She has also never really baked so is a novis just like myself. However, mum has an allotment and LOVES home grown food, mum does not have a sweet tooth but I do. So we are a perfect pair! Both ying to our yangs!

So here is our journey on learning to bake. I promise you now, a Dobos Torte is not on the cards but maybe a Victoria sponge will be! Now lets go eat some cake.
